BAY RIDGE — The number one preference of Community Board 10 for placing an automatic pay toilet (APT) on the 69th Street Pier was recently rejected by the city, forcing the board to suggest an alternative site in Shore Road Park.
The 69th Street Veterans Memorial Pier, used by a large number of visitors, seemed the right and logical choice for one of the city’s newest public pay toilet facilities, but the city Department of Transportation nixed the site because of sewer connection problems.
“This assigned our proposal to a watery death,” said Chair Brian Kieran of the board’s Traffic and Transportation Committee in his report to the board at its recent meeting.
