August 23, 1962: Brooklyn Paramount Theater, scene of Alan Freed rock-n-roll shows, closes; building purchased by Long Island University.
The Brooklyn Paramount Theater, a former cinema theater and venue for many great rock and roll shows closes and is bought by Long Island University. The theater was located on 385 flatbush avenue on the corner of dekalb avenue, and was popular for its Alan Freed shows.
