After we ran this article yesterday,
… after a two day survey of 3rd avenue and 5th avenue in Bay Ridge, our reporting team found over 25 vacated or vacating storefronts.
Perhaps the most unfortunate block of all is 3rd avenue, between Bay Ridge Avenue and 70th street. Here we found four empty store fronts. The remaining stores are niche food services, a used goods store, a deli and the famous fresh-bread Cangiano’s.

Councilman Gentile Announces Approval For Street Renaming In Honor of Bob Buonvino
CITY HALL- The proposal to rename a Brooklyn street in honor of devoted Brooklyn resident, Bob Buonvino, which was first introduced by Councilman Gentile, was approved by the new York City Council at today’s Stated meeting.

Although, at his most recent filing, he only brandished a modest $3,450 in campaign funds, as Mr. Capano pointed out in a recent email to Bayridgistan, “since all [Campaign Finance Board] participants (including Gentile) must agree to a spending cap we are both limited to spending the same amount (about $160,000) for race.
